After completion of Master’s degree in anthropology from Calcutta University started research work on Bengal BOAT since 1997. Man-Boat Relationship became the focus of research which was looked from an anthropological perspective through intensive field-based investigation. Did research at Viking Ship Museum, Roskilde, Denmark as Guest Research Scholar and also at Centre for Maritime Archaeology, Southampton University, UK. Presently working as Curator of National Maritime Museum of the National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal, Gujarat. Worked with Exeter University, UK as Exeter Associate in a project on Endangered Material Knowledge Programme. Worked with Anthropological Survey of India as Visiting Fellow. Worked as Curator of Maulana Azad Museum, Curatorial Assistant of Indian Museum, Kolkata, Project Coordinator of Cultural Research Institute and Associate Coordinator of South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers and People, New Delhi. Actively took part in the process of development of Heritage Boats of Bengal Gallery in Kolkata, Water Transport Gallery of IIT-Kharagpur and Odisha State Maritime Museum, Cuttack.
